mumei, the music journal edited by Ryoko Akama and Heather Frasch, releases its latest edition TEN.  The launch will start with an installation exhibit, followed by performances by Ryoko Akama, Koen Nutters, and Steffi Weismann.

At the International Congress of Arab Music in Cairo in 1932, the musicologist Mady Humbert-Lavergne suggested using the Ondes Martenot to play Arab music. Inspired by this idea, Khyam Allami (oud) and Julie Normal (Ondes Martenot) present an exploration of the sonic and musical possibilities between their instruments, centered around the tonalities of the Arab maqām system, and will premiere composed and improvised pieces for oud, Ondes Martenot, and electronics.
